    The great art of giving consists in this: the gift should cost very little and yet be greatly coveted, so that it may be the more highly appreciated.

Kosmo.com Goes Down, poor Joe!

April 12th, 2001

News Flash: Kozmo.com to close its doors and liquidate.

As you know, I know the guy, and also know his 2 other aparment suite mates who live in this huge luxury 4 bedroom apt. (1 used for an office) with 3 full bathrooms, kitchen and full living room, dining area. I think the market price of the apartment would easily hit 2 million. We helped Joe Park in the beginning when he first started, back when he did the deliveries himself and slept in the office (too poor to have an apt)

Ryan sent me the email when I showed concern, asking “Hey man, now that Kozmo.com is going, Joe Parks stock options, stock and severance pay basically disappears off the face of the planet. What’s he going to do?”

Ryan wrote:
“joe knew days ago about the liquidation. he’s pretty
pissed right now. his future is completely uncertain.
that puts me and my brother in a tight spot..i have no
idea how joe is going to be able to afford rent?”

Owie… Another Silicon Alley pioneer bites the dust. Man, if you go to Clemintine now, the bar is so friggin empty. The walls talk of old dot commers who are gone with the dust of the past…

Damn greedy VC’s screwed up everything. They charged service fees in an attempt to boost revenue, but it was counter-productive. People wouldn’t order anymore.

VC= Vulture Capitalist… venture capitalist? I don’t think so!

WTF is wrong with them. The business model works, and was making money! They’re being Gordon Gecko from the movie, “Wall Street.”
