A Car Owners Worst Nightmare

September 27th, 2002

It’s every car owner’s worst nightmare… You take your car somewhere for a service. It could be a garage, valet, service shop, body shop, audio shop, etc. You fear that someone there will joy ride your car… What if someone did? Well here’s a true story of someone that this did, and how they caught them.

I originally saw this thread on Club RSX’s forums. I couldn’t believe what I was reading as the story unfolded. Essentially, the original story and post is from a Mustang enthusiast site.

Here, a Ford SVT technician brags about some “dumb woman” brought in a brand new limited edition 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra for service, and how he abused it buy flooring the pedal, drivng 140mph on the roads. What’s even crazier, is that his profile shows where’s he’s from, and the PERSONALIZED license plate number of the car.

Turns out, the “dumb woman” is the wife of a well known moderator of another mustang site. Soon enough this guy looses his job the same day, and the dealership is in deep poo-poo about the entire situation, as they’re talking about getting lawyers involved for compensation.

This guy gets dumbass of the year award. This post was made today and has in excess of 180,000 views in less than 3 hours. He’s outta the job, and busted for what he did. This post has gone to nearly every car website/forum on the internet, and everyone is talking about it. It’s nice to see someone get busted for pulling shit like this…

Mom’s Cancer Update

September 25th, 2002

I got a call from my mother tonight regarding the CAT scans. The CAT scans revealed that the cancer didn’t spread to the vital organs (thank God), however, the tests on the lymph nodes still need to be done. That will happen next week on Tuesday where my mother will have a mastectomy (removal of the breasts). If the lymph nodes show that the cancer has spread, then she will probably have to undergo chemotherapy. However, it’s still promising in that if it didn’t spread to the lymph nodes, then just the masectomy will be all that’s needed. I pray that the latter is the case. In any event, seems like I already have the help of friends who have connections with Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center already offering help. This is great – amazing how help arrives when you need it most. I just hope it doesn’t go to that level though, because then I have to try to convince my mother to go to Sloan-Ket.

My aunt is coming down this weekend to help my mom out, so she’ll have company during surgery. Unfortunately, I have a conference I’m bound to on the day of the surgery, but I’m gonna try to go visit my mother after it’s done. I’m going to visit my mom after work on Thursday to spend some time with her before she goes to surgery.

My mom inquired on that I seemed to be taking this a lot calmer than I did the first time I heard it. I told her how Caroline, who’s been through a very similar situation with her family, calmed me down, and was telling me more about Cancer and things like that. Basically, giving me the facts and calming me down before I completely freak out and go nutso. I’m really appreciative that she’s here to help me through all this…

Anyhow, as for the court case in Poughkeepsie, basically I had all the paperwork to show that this case should be dismissed in that it didn’t meet prima facie. I managed to find the cop outside the courtroom prior to the trial, and talked to him. We discussed the situation, and I showed him my documentation. After him checking the original ticket, he thinks that he may have transposed the numbers since the plate #’s don’t match the car type. So he went to the prosecutor and had the case dismissed before it even went to trial… Whoohoo! It’s good to do some legal homework before going in to court. Prima Facie clause rocks!

My Mom has cancer… :(

September 24th, 2002

September 24, 2002. It’s 3:35PM, and I just got a call from my dad. My mom had a lump growing in her chest that doubled in size in the last month, so the doctor was going to skip biopsy and just remove it anyways, and then test it. Today they removed it, and the test confirmed that it was cancer. Now they’re doing further tests and CAT scans to see if it spread. I’m hoping it didn’t. FUUUUUCK I dunno what to do… Worst part is that I can’t even go check up on her becuause I have a court date in upstate NY for that case where somone stole my old plates from my old car and racked up some heavy parking fines. Fuuuuuck – this ain’t a good week. I’m really close to my mom, so this shit is driving me nuts… Arrrgh… (#@%*$&%)!*)*(@!!! I don’t want to lose my mom. She means so much to me.

UPDATE: Talked with my mom today. The cancer has definitely spread, and they scheduled an emergency surgery to remove the breasts completely on Tuesday. The cancer was indeed malignant, but they don’t know to what extent, how far, or how quick it spread. They did full CAT scans today and tested they lymph gland to check (usual procedure). We’re still awaiting tests.

Strangly, my mom is taking it quite well. My Dad took it the hardest, and he’s having a hard time dealing with his emotions… I’m taking it pretty badly too, but am still somewhat in denial/pure shock and confusion stage. Fortunately, Caroline went through the same thing with her mom a year back, and came over to calm me down a bit, reassured me, and basically prevented me from freaking out. Strange how life and God always seem to bring me help at the right times when I need it most.

Anyhow, the doctor said that if the test show that the cancer has spread, that he won’t do any more surgery to remove it. Meaning that the only option left is kemotherapy, which I’m not sure if she’ll do or not.

If my mom is gonna get any help, it’s gonna be the best damn help out there, and not some dinky local hospital. My friend Jill from back in High School now works at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, and she said that she had a few contacts since she works in radiology and oncology. I’m sorta confused on what to do, but if she’s gonna get help, I want it to be the best. I’m not about to lose my mom without a fight!!

What does a car mean to a girl?

September 21st, 2002

I had an interesting conversation with Caroline who was talking to me about her friend Frank who was looking at my website. Essentially, since he knows Nina, he wanted to read my post on getting Nina drunk Anyhow, he goes looking around at other pics on my website and commented to Caroline about my car and equated that to a value to her. Interesting… (press more to read on)

Yeah, it’s been awhile…

September 18th, 2002

Yeah, I know its been awhile since I posted. The past weekend has been craaaazy. My cousin, aunt, and uncle were in town from Korea to finalize their naturalization. So I had to stay this weekend to entertain them as well as be the chauffer back and fourth from NYC and my parents house.

To make matters worse, my mom downloaded some virus that waxed the computer. Guess who had to reformat the whole harddrive, recover the data, and reinstall every friggin application known to man? Took me the whole weekend. On a good note, I was nicely rewarded with a new Philips DVD+R/RW drive. Whoohoo make my own DVD’s!

As for 9/11, it came and gone. Actually, I was getting quite annoyed that I stop posting my blog for awhile since I know I’d go nuts slamming the media, which at this point has infuriated me beyond comprehension. Other shit: These letters from Salon.com piss me off regarding 9/11. Damn ignorant people. The media is just as bad though. I would’ve posted something reaaaaaly nasty about the media if I blogged during that time and that probably wouldn’t be a good idea.
