NYU Senior Formal - Guys have it easy!
May 5th, 2003Sunday, May 3rd was the NYU Senior Formal for the class of 2003, at the Hilton Plaza in New York City. So of course I got all dressed up and went with Caroline. I’ll be the few guys to admit it, that guys have it easy. I just dry clean my suit (which I’ve probably wore to an event before) and shirt, polish my shoes, get a haircut, and I’m pretty much set to go. Meanwhile, what a girl has to do is a completely different story… Press MORE to read on.
Let’s begin with the clothes. A girl must have a different dress for every occassion. It should not look similar to any other girl’s dress at the party, and thus she must get a unique looking dress. Then of course, there’s the shoes, jewelry, accessories, the bag, etc. If she’s lucky, she find a deal for the dress at $200, and if she’s still lucky, $200 for the shoes. Then add the cost of the jewelry, accessories, and bag. Then she’s gotta get a pedicure for those shoes, manicure, get her hair done with exquisite ornate detail that rivals victorian hair masterpieces, and get her eyebrows done. Then at home, she must do her makeup without messing up her hair or breaking a sweat. This is just the preperation part. I’m just not gonna go into the fact that she’s gotta dance, walk around in heels, and not eat to much so that the dress won’t feel tight.
Meanwhile, I’m lounging in a suit, eating, drinking, dancing in flat shoes, comfy as can be… It’s good to be a guy! Comon guys, we seriously have it easy…
I seriously give a lot of props for Caroline, since she was the first of the girls to get done. And you know what? She looked the best too!
The only bad thing about that night was just shortly after buying a rose for Caroline on my way to pick her up. Some schmuck wasn’t watching where he was running and ran right into me–completely obliterating the rose into bits. Alas, I had to turn back and buy another one and explain to the shop how the first one was obliterated. The guy that ran into me just kept going and didn’t even say sorry or offer to pay for the flower. WTF?!
However, the rest of the night, was just extremely memorable. The pictures in the photogallery (under Senior Formal 03) show it all. I also posted pics from Caroline’s birthday party and RCF Senior Nite which I haven’t been able to post since I’ve been working like a madman at work.
