I took Caroline to La Caravelle for Valentines day, and man is that place seriously upper crust. I had tuna tar tar for an appetizer, she had foie gras, and we both had champagne with the appetizer. The champagne glass was slick, as it was stemless (bottomless) glass, held in a metal ring holder (since they can’t stand on their own). It sorta felt like we were drinking from a glass horn. I’ll have to hope I took a picture buried in my camera somewhere. Entree of course was good, but the highlight was the delicate chocolate souffle for dessert. We were buzzin a bit, as we don’t drink as much as we used to, but this was quite memorable. It’s just weird that everyone there sat side by side, facing each other. LOL
UPDATE: La Caravelle is now closed forever.
I’ll miss that place.

Our Siamese fighting fish finally died yesterday. He lived out his expected lifespan. I got quite attached to that fish. I knew he was in his last days since he always sat on the bottom of his tank and only went up to get food. It got to the point that he didn’t even know that we put food in there so we’d have to keep repeatedly motioning that we put food in. He couldn’t even chomp down his food on the first attempts since his aim was off. Poor fishy. He was the fish that I never named since all the other fish that Caroline named ended up dying. I thought she was cursed or something… she named a fish and the fish would die within the next week. Must have gone through quite a few of them like that… there was Friedrich, Bruno, and two other red ones. No more buying fish now though, since we have the hamster to worry about.

We got a hamster on Friday. I can’t believe Caroline said it was ok to get. She’s not fond of rodents unless they’re rabbits, which she thinks are cute. I asked me a few other times and she said no. But for some reason now she said yes on Friday and we went out to get one right away, before she changes her mind. LOL It was grey and white but I think she was ill when we bought her because on Sunday she just crawled out of her cage and laid there. We took her back to the petshop but by the time we got there it was too late… Petco said they would replace it since they guarantee their animals for 14 days.
The new one we chose is a cream/honey color. She’s much more active than the first one ever was. We named her Dot, after Dorothy.
Caroline: it acts like u
Dorothy: wat do u mean???
Dorothy: lol
Caroline: it goes on the exercise wheel
Dorothy: hahahahaha
Dorothy: are u gonna name it after me then?
Caroline: goes for a drink of water
Dorothy: haha
Caroline: goes back on the exercise wheel
Dorothy: wow
Caroline: does that over and over
Dorothy: healthy rodent
Caroline: and it sleeps in fetal position
Dorothy: lol
Dorothy: i think u should name it dot
So Dot it is. Dot’s very quirky. She sits on top of her house and moved her ceramic house around from the corner of the cage to the middle. Diesel hamster! Her house says “beauty salon” on the outside of it. Yesterday we put her in a hamster ball and watched her roll around the apartment.
Okay, more hamster tales later…
